Our Sound of Music Tour is a combination of Salzburg City Tour, an excursion to the Lake District and the places where the film "Sound of Music" were made
Our English-speaking guide will show you the highlights of the film and the historical and architectural landmarks in the city and part of the picturesque lake district.
Visit Mirabell Gardens which were laid out in the 18th century and where Maria and the children were seen dancing around the statue of the winged horse Pegasus as they sang the classic "Do-Re-Mi" in the film.
You will also see Leopoldskron Castle which was used as the Trapp family home and the Leopoldskron Lake, where the children fell while boating before meeting the Baroness for the first time. The ballroom used for the film was copied from the castle's Venetian room. Hellbrunn Palace is the next stop. Built in the early 17th century by Prince-Archbishop Markus Sittikus, the Palace's pavilion was used as the set for Leisl and Franz's duet of "I Am Sixteen, Going on Seventeen."
Nonnberg Abbey will also be part of the tour. It is the oldest convent in the German speaking part of Europe where Maria was a novice and where Maria and the baron got married. St. Gilgen and Lake Wolfgang will provide you with an opportunity to see the scenery shown at the beginning of the movie.
We will then proceed to the Mondsee Cathedral to give our tour a happy ending by visiting the location for Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer's wedding scene.
